In mid-August and no less than one week before the start of classes, in order to honor the Universitys first-year residence life requirement and decrease the waitlist, Cumberland University may assign some incoming students to reside in a converted triple room (traditional double rooms with added furniture to accommodate three students).
Incoming students are assigned to converted triple rooms in reverse date of Residence Life Application & Residential Fees received order, beginning with the latest dates of deposit and working backwards. Residence Life will work with students in converted triple rooms to move the latest person to apply and pay fees to another location once space becomes available.
Converted Triple Rooms are not done for profit. Cumberland University uses tripling with great discretion to accommodate the high demand to live on campus and provide a cost-savings to budget strapped parents and students. This process guarantees students are living on-campus with 24-hour Security, active Residence Life Staff monitoring, and an environment conducive to learning.
