Terminal Outcomes of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences and Health Sciences


At the conclusion of the BSN Program of Study, the graduate will be prepared to:

1. Use critical thinking skills to plan and provide care for individuals, families, communities, and populations at risk based on the application of knowledge, evidence based practice (EBP), research from nursing science, behavioral sciences, and natural sciences as well as the humanities.

 

2. Perform nursing care utilizing Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs in accordance with a biopsychosocial framework to assist the patient/client/community to their highest level of wellness.

 

3. Use the nursing process to design care that promotes, maintains, and/or restores the optimal functioning of clients on the wellness-illness continuum in a variety of health care settings.

 

4. Communicate effectively using a variety of strategies and teaching/learning techniques in collaboration with the client, family, caregivers, and interdisciplinary health care teams to promote optimum health outcomes.

 

5. Advocate a standard of care integrating principles of law, ethics, and recognizing cultural and spiritual diversity within the global market place.

 

6. Practice nursing utilizing principles of information technology, health care policy and health care economics with regulatory environments.

 

7. Demonstrate leadership for quality care and patient safety with emphasis on improved patient outcomes.

 

8. Display a personal commitment to the advancement of professional nursing.

Terminal Outcomes (Leveled) of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences and Health Sciences


At the conclusion of the BSN Program of Study, the graduate will be prepared to:

 

Objective 1

Level 1     Begin to relate the critical thinking skills process in the provision of care for individuals, families, communicates, and populations at risk.

 

Level 2     Identify and apply the critical thinking skills process to plan and provided care for individuals, families, communities, and populations at risk based on the application of knowledge and evidence base practice (EBP).

 

Level 3     Identify and evaluate critical thinking skills to plan and provide care for individuals, families, communities, and populations at risk based on the application of knowledge, evidence based practice (EBP), research from nursing science, behavioral sciences, and natural sciences as well as the humanities.

 

Objective 2

Level 1     Define and select appropriate nursing care utilizing Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs in accordance with a biopsychosocial framework to assist the patient/client/community to their highest level of wellness.

 

Level 2     Recognize and apply nursing care utilizing Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs in accordance with a biopsychosocial framework to assist the patient/client/community to their highest level of wellness.

 

Level 3     Analyze, implement, and evaluate nursing care utilizing Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs in accordance with a biopsychosocial framework to assist the patient/client/community to their highest level of wellness.

 

Objective 3

Level 1     Relate the nursing process to nursing care of clients on the wellness-illness continuum.

 

Level 2     Apply the nursing process to care of clients with a variety of the health care needs on the wellness-illness continuum practicing in selected settings.

 

Objective 4

Level 1     List and record effective communication techniques in caring for clients.

 

Level 2     Demonstrate therapeutic communication skills in a variety of settings with the interdisciplinary health care team.
