Policy Provisions
1.

Distribution

1.1

Faculty and Staff

Apple iPADs will be issued to all full-time faculty and selected staff based on need.  Adjunct faculty may receive an iPAD on loan if need is established.

2.

Ownership

All iPADs are the property of the University.  The instruments may not be sold, loaned, or given away.

Faculty and Staff can purchase the instrument at any time for a price that will be prorated based on age and use.  Any employee leaving the University must return the iPAD or the prorated cost of the instrument will be deducted from their final paycheck.

Students who received an iPad between fall 2011 and fall 2013 must maintain full-time enrollment for one complete, sequential academic year before assuming ownership of the instrument.  Students withdrawing before the completion of one academic year must return the iPAD to the University.  Failure to do so will result in the prorated cost being added to their billing statement and will result in a hold on academic records until payment is complete.

The University reserves the right to inspect any device that has been assigned to a student, faculty, or staff member.

3.

Security

Each individual (faculty, staff, or student) is responsible for the security and maintenance of the iPAD.  If the instrument is damaged, stolen, or lost, it must be repaired or replaced in a timely manner at the expense of the faculty member, staff member or student.  Independently obtained insurance is recommended.

4.

Purchasing of Apps

4.1

Faculty and Staff

Faculty and Staff may be reimbursed for the purchase of APPs that are appropriate for University use.  The purchase of individual APPs that exceed $10.00 must be approved by supervisors.

4.2

Students

Students are responsible for the purchase of all APPS.  Those required for class will be identified by instructors and must be treated similar to text books.

5.

Class Usage

All faculty must accept the usage of iPADs in the classroom.

Every faculty member must have a detailed iPAD policy in course syllabi.

e-Books must be permitted if they are available.

Faculty may specify use restrictions in their syllabus.  Possible restrictions are: no use during exams, quizzes, etc.

Faculty may specify penalties for misuse of the instrument in the classroom.

All APPs that are required for course use must be specified in the course syllabus.
