General Description
Description / Scope:

The purpose of this athletic certification process is to make clear that all student-athletes are certified to compete each semester. A primary goal is to make the process systematic and consistent. All student-athletes must be approved by the Compliance Officer, Faculty Athletic Representative and Director of Athletics before competition.

What happens:

1. Compliance Officer sends to each head coach the Verified for Eligibility Form

 

Team Chart Includes:

· List of Students Names

· Cleared by the NAIA Clearinghouse

· Students Previous Seasons of Competition

· Date of first practice

· Date of first team competition (including scrimmages)

· Deadline for return of completed forms by August 1st and December 1st

· Coach and Compliance Officer signs off on the roster before competition

 

2. Coach completes team chart and returns to Compliance Officer by deadline date

 

Coach Completes:

· Complete information for returning students

· Delete students who are not returning

· Add names and information of new students

· Have a face to face meeting with the Compliance Officer

 

3. Compliance Officer and Certifying Official Work

 

· NAIA Official Eligibility Certificate Form for each team

· Certificate of Clearance Form for each team with names typed in

· Transfer Eligibility Form

· Hardship Request

 

4. Signatures

 

· Compliance Officer is responsible for having students sign Certificate of Clearance

· When all forms are completed and signed by the Coach, Compliance Officer, FAR and AD then student-athletes will be able to compete

· 10 day window to recertify student-athletes between semester who compete in both semesters

· No coach can certify any student-athlete for competition
